这次新制作的《靛蓝色的心情》也是以连载在祥伝社发行的漫画杂志《onBLUE》为原作的同名作品。是《情色小说家》的过去篇。《情色小说家》是木岛与大学生久住为中心的爱情故事，但是《靛蓝色的心情》是主要描写木岛与木岛的责任编辑——城户士郎的过去的作品。但是《靛蓝色的心情》不只是单纯的过去篇，前作中的久住也会登场，让《情色小说家》的粉丝们是不看不可了。
