《人生百事》侧重展现了在改革开放的特殊背景下环境对人的影响，反映出几位主角在不同境遇下精神和性格上的变迁。突出表现了葛志强(董勇饰)、李娜(倪虹洁饰)、赵永利(贾乃亮饰)、朱燕燕(陆玲饰)等人为追求理想，实现宏图的坚韧性格以及在事业上、恋情中和朋友之间的爱恨情仇。可以说该剧中人物的命运就是改革开放时期中国社会发展变迁史的小小缩影。
