本剧描述日本癌症中心的胸腔内科医生夏目典明（唐泽寿明）与同样在癌症中心工，负责研究的医生（渡部笃郎）、保险公司职员（及川光博），一同解开癌症末期患者在拿到生前给付的保险金之后，症状便「完全缓解」之谜。
