女主人公方梅与男友耿建华在患难中相爱，后因耿母从中作梗，导致两人天各一方，中断了联系，方梅回城后经情感波折和商海沉浮，在经历了丈夫背叛、婚姻破裂、父母相继去世、寻找爱女，以及前夫的阴险狠毒试图置她于死地等一系列苦难历程之后，方梅终于从痛苦和迷茫中走了出来，最终实现了自己的升华和爱的回归。
