《大清盐商》将以扬州为背景，描述乾隆时期扬州几个盐商大家族在生活、经商过程中尔虞我诈的争斗和悲欢离合的心酸。该剧将通过描绘扬州盐业的兴起、发展、繁荣和衰落，描绘扬州盐商与经济、园林、“八怪”文人、民俗风情、饮食文化等方方面面的关系，展示历史上扬州的繁华。
