故事讲述的是1597年10月26日，朝鲜名将李舜臣在鸣梁海峡以12艘板屋船击退日舰330余艘，创下世界海战史上的一个奇迹。李舜臣改良创新了大型战船“龟船”，甲板坚苦机动灵活，在抗击日军的战斗中发挥了巨大作用。而李舜臣在此次海战中其实已经被国家放弃，要打一场看似没有胜算的战斗，而他却秉持着”必死即生，必生即死“的信念，率领手下的士兵将恐惧化为勇气，以少胜多打了一场胜仗，令人叹为观止
