这是一部纪念妈妈的电影。《妈妈和七天的时间》是一个讲述20世纪90年代在中国农村七天发生的故事。故事里记载了小咸，一个十二岁女孩对家庭和村庄的记忆。在这七天里，发生了三次死亡和两次出生。
一日，二少爷尚鋆携家眷一起回到了尚家探亲，从此原本平静的尚家便激起许多波浪。二少爷长期受到民主、人权的思想渲染，和思想守旧、自私自利的大少爷处处发生冲突，两人经常在争吵得面红耳赤。为了推翻大少爷的“封建统治”，二少爷决定留下来争夺尚银楼的当家之位。另一方面，秀杏终于得知了当年的真相，原本善良的她为了报复尚家，慢慢变得心狠手辣起来……
